Flachau ski holidays - Austria

Flachau Description

Flachau is a small friendly resort set in the heart of an extensive 3 valley lift network and at one end of the vast Salzburger Sportwelt and Ski Amade area.
Its numerous skiing facilities are part of the Ski Amadé network of ski areas, the largest in Europe.

The Salzburger/Amade area has a total of 270 lifts an 860 km slopes. Flachau links to 2 ski areas, firstly to Wagrain and St Johann with 44 lifts, and 111 km of skiing and secondly, to Flachauwinkl, Kleinarl and Zauchensee with 23 ski lifts and 90 kms of skiing. It is pretty much unknown to British skiers and is ideal for families or couples seeking kilometres of flattering skiing in a traditional Austrian atmosphere.

There are a number of pretty tree lined runs which provide good visibility in bad weather. One of the delights in skiing here is that there are so few people on the slopes. There are also some good mountain restaurants at reasonable prices.

Flachau caters well for non-skiers, as there is tobogganing, horse drawn sleigh rides, snow tubing, curling and guided snow shoeing. Salzburg Airport is only 1 hour away, and the historic old city offers a range of museums and shops bars and restaurants.
